THE ROW: THE CRUISE COLLECTION, 2013.
So basically picture wise we’ve kind of gone and created two separate collections, mainly because the Olsens have done fur. Summer fur! And we couldn’t not include the fur which when they do it and they do it well, resembles a freshly skinned hide casually draped across your shoulder in a chic manner. And what with the weather, and being dressed in thermal long johns and a matching vest, the idea of fur in June does seem rather smart and warm. We’re calling this collection real summer and fantasy summer, the bottom row is real, the top fantasy. Because let’s be honest, when are we ever going to get to wear camel? In my head I am a liberal art student at Columbia in the seventies, spending my days sashaying down the promenade and reading clever looking books in Central Park, but in reality I resemble a drowned rat that hasn’t left the house in five days. The closest I will come to wearing either of these is by sticking my head on the pictures. Which I may do, and then cover my walls with images of myself in The Row and hope that it stops raining long enough for me to smoke a cigarette outside. My walls will become a bastion of chic and be hailed for their style. Me, not so much.
